Alkalde Gerardo Rosalés Victoria from Fortin-de-las-Florés, Veracruz, asks about the depersonalization of municipal police after the agents killed 19-year-old boxer Pablo during a check in the exits. A young man named Pablo was on his way to shop in a store located within a few meters from his home. The State Security Service of Veracruz cannot respond to this.
"According to the request of the population, not wishing to remain under the protection of the municipal police and even the state, I ask to immediately disperse the municipal police of Fortin, Veracruz, and also simultaneously request support for ensuring the safety of this municipality through the National Guard or the Naval Infantry," - states a document sent to the governor of Veracruz.
The Pablo family protested against the murder of the young boxer. With placards, they took to the streets, demanding the departure of the local police. Some of them asked: "They took our Pablo, they took our boxer, the future engineer-chemist, our friend" and "Not one young person more."
In response, one of the police officers gave a shot that led to Pablo's death. The officers of the municipal police called the rescue service, but upon arrival, the death was confirmed. The officer who fired the shot was detained by his colleagues.
After the incident, residents of Fortin-de-las-Florés conducted a series of actions, demanding not only the release of the detainee but also the termination of police abuses. In response to Rosales Victoria, one of the events was an appeal to Governor Rosio Nale to ensure that the municipal police was disbanded and replaced by the Naval Infantry or the National Guard.
